Addictive Bean Curry recipe

Bean curry served with hot steamed rice or whole wheat bread makes for a yummy treat! A must try!

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon grated/chopped gingerroot
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 28oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2 cans kidney beans (or mixed beans or other beans) (19 oz each)
  • 1 or more teaspoon curry paste
  • salt to taste


This vegetarian bean curry smells,  looks and tastes delicious.


Step 1
Heat oil in large pot over medium heat and stir fry the
mustard and cumin seeds until they pop.
Step 2
Add onion, ginger,
and garlic and stir fry until lightly colored.
Step 3
tomatoes with juice, beans (drained and rinsed), and 1 tsp curry paste (to start!).
Step 4
Simmer for about 20 minutes or
until thick and saucy.
Step 5
Keep adding curry paste to taste
during the cooking and then add salt to taste.
Step 6
Serve hot with rice,
pita, toast, chapattis, nan, straight from the pot
